Autumn Bliss: Easy Chili Recipe

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons. What’s not to love? Football is on, the air is crisp, leaves are changing hues, comfort foods are on the stove. I get giddy just thinking about it.

Despite living in sunny southern California where the temperatures are less than up-to-snuff according to my Pennsylvania hometown standards for fall, I have been getting myself in the autumn spirit by making nice hearty meals. From meatloaf and scalloped potatoes to chili and biscuits, we are all but in full-swing autumn mode in our home.

I thought I would share the wealth and give you all a simple chili recipe to try out. Ladies, they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so maybe you can test that theory out this weekend. Throw on this recipe, turn on a football game, and get snugly.

Easy Chili Recipe
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:

  • 1 pkg. of Chili seasoning (I prefer McCormick’s)
  • 1 lb. of lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1 can (14 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz.) kidney beans, undrained
  • Toppings – shredded cheese, green onions, bacon bits, sour cream (whatever you like)

Directions:

  • Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off excess fat.
  • Stir in the seasoning packet, tomatoes, and beans. Bring those ingredients to a boil and cover. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve in bowls with desired toppings.

Let me know how it goes, and feel free to share your favorite fall recipes and traditions!
