Love is in the Air: Easy Date Ideas for Fall

Cooler temperatures tend to spark more than the occasional bonfire…they spark a sense of romance. Ah, yes, love is in the air. It is the perfect excuse to snuggle up next to the one you love. While the temperatures may be cooling off, fall is the season to warm things up in your relationship.

To do that, here is a list of autumn activities that are sure to leave you and your other half with memories, laughter, and love:

  • Take a walk Walks are underrated, if you ask me. They are the simple way to break free from our over-stimulated lives and get some quality time with our sweetheart. Hold hands, talk about life, and take in the beauty of the outdoors. There is something exciting, peaceful, and romantic about a stroll hand-in-hand, distraction free.
  • Carve a pumpkin Carving pumpkins is a fun and inexpensive way to spend a few hours together. Visit your local pumpkin patch or grocery store to tackle the pile of orange-ness in search of the perfect one. Can you work as a team to find the perfect pumpkin, or will you have to settle on two? Go home and begin discussing some design plans. Will yours be scary or funny? A face or an object? Make sure to take lots of pictures, and don’t forget to threaten your sweetie with the occasional attack of the pumpkin guts.
  • Pick some apples There are few things that say fall like an apple. Look for your local apple orchard, get bundled up (if you need to, of course), and go pick a bushel of fresh apples together. Not only are orchards romantic, but they can make for a great photo shoot, so make sure to have your camera in tow. Often times you can buy fresh (and delicious) apple cider at an orchard, too, so make sure to grab some on your way out for later.
  • Fall Festival Most towns have some version of a fall festival. Check your local newspaper or go online to find out when yours is. Not only will you most likely have a wide selection of delicious goodies, but there might be some local entertainment, as well. Fall festivals come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common: fun.
  • Watch some football If you are like me, you love a good football game: making nachos, grilling, and cheering on your favorite team with your guy beside you. Now, ladies, I know some of you are not the biggest of football fans, but I can guarantee that if your guy is, suggesting this as a date night will win you some serious appreciation points. Showing interest in something that is important to your significant other or spouse is a huge deposit into his/her love tank.
  • Sit beneath the stars Looking for a romantic night? Make some hot chocolate, grab two cups, a blanket, and your sweetheart, and head outside. It can be a park, your backyard, or even your patio, but enjoy a romantic night for two underneath the stars. Get close, enjoy some good conversation, and wish upon a star.
  • Play in the leaves (Insert my sad face here) Although this is not an option for me in sunny, Southern California, I was once from Pennsylvania and would highly recommend playing in the leaves. Remember doing this as a child? You would pile the leaves as high as you could, jump into them, throw them everywhere, and laugh all the while. Release your inner child, and enjoy an afternoon amongst the fallen leaves.

Autumn is such a great time to rekindle or fuel the flames of love. Get cozy, make memories, laugh together, and enjoy the love you share. Life is too short to miss out on it.

Do you have any fun, fall festivities that you would recommend?
